We perform a lot of gospel music, and while we enjoy finding and playing good songs that are not very well known, we love to sing the standards, at least the ones that suit our style of playing. And whenever we play we try to include a healthy selection of those songs, because we know that folks love to hear their favorites and sing along.
Unfortunately, we know way more standards than we can fit onto the occasional studio CD that we record, and so when someone hears us do their favorite song we usually don't have a recording of it for them to take home. So we're trying to remedy that by putting together a series of home made gospel CDs, consisting of older songs that don't need royalties paid on them, recorded simply, duplicated and packaged at home, sold at a lower price.
The first of those CDs, Home Made Gospel, takes three older songs from our first studio CD and adds seven that were recorded live at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Somerset, Ky. It's less polished than studio sound, and you'll hear an occasional mistake, but the singing and playing is heartfelt and we think it sounds pretty good.
